Introduction

Mission: to help everyone think more actively about the history, public policy, and politics of American government and to apply all truth, from whatever source, to the issues of our day.
The world today is a confusing place, especially in politics. People become very passionate when debating what role government should play in our lives. They often refer to research and ideas from the media, academic scholars, think tanks, politicians, and many others. The trick is to figure out which facts are truthful and which ideas will lead to a more free and prosperous society.
We can simplify this process by identifying time-tested principles and applying them to current issues. These true principles can be found in science, religion, the arts, and many other sources.
For example, though religion and government should be separate in authority and structure, truths taught in religion can help guide our secular governments. The Lord himself declared that he raised up "wise men" to establish the Constitution "according to just and holy principles".
I am trying to understand these principles as America's Founding Fathers and the Brethren have taught them and to apply them to current issues. On the top left side of this blog, you will find definitions, explanations, and quotes regarding some of these principles.
My sincere hope is that as you read this blog you will also study and ponder these principles for yourself, determine what they mean to you, and seek to apply them to the great issues of our time. Please share your thoughts by posting comments.
